Perkins Open Nov 24 2008

Author: Drew Ganske

Brand new name and a new remodeling of the trophy with only the best quality pink duct tape. Perkins Open? I know where do we come up with such a quality name, it only took like three people to come up with it, being the creative beings we are. It was also decided that possession of the trophy would give immunity to the "no permanents no talking" rule, but the trophy had to be present to brandish to abolish the rule. Can't call shenanigans without a broom. ![](/images/articles/47/trophy.jpg) Definitely had to get the pancakes in there. That trophy is so…

Winnipeg 5-Color Tournament October 26th

Author: Drew Ganske

There was talk about changing the name of the tournament to the Perkins Open but that won't resolve until next time. The tournament was going to start at about 1, so I classily arrived right at 1 but knew we were going to delay it until one of our players arrived. He was there within fifteen minutes. We only clocked in at nine players and one was missing that should have been there but I heard he was going to play flash so was very happy we just started. This is the wall mural at Galaxy Comics, every 6 months…

**Preface** - Whenever I'm traveling to either the New Holland or Haddonfield tournaments I always seem to pull off some sort of insane move where I put us a half-hour behind schedule. In fact, I've incorporated this half-hour into each drive time and we will actually leave from the starting point that much earlier. Well, this time went almost perfectly, save for an accident on a more local road while going to pick up Darklantern. I even remembered that I have to make an illegal U-turn at one point during the trip to save about 10 minutes. But enough about…

Winnipeg 5-Color Tournament September 28th

Author: Drew Ganske

In accordance with our new monthly tournament structure, this tourney lines up with the ones held at the end of every month. We will give this article thing at least one more try, and also accordance with tradition, the Perkins coverage by far overshadows the main event. This article has more pictures (even taken from my camera this time); better ìEngrishî and hopefully better match up stats and/or formatting. The prerelease on Saturday started off as anyone could expect, being told to be there at a certain time because there is limited entry only to be waiting in the cold…

5-Color Worlds - 6th Place Report

Author: Nate Moersfelder

The day started out looking less then optimistic on my part, a much less than tuned deck that had a grand total of three games of testing behind it, not so much to see if it worked but to see if the manabase was OK, which it wasn’t… so changes had to be made on the way down. Upon getting there it was as expected, another day at COD with the usual who make the 2 hour drive from Wisconsin and the 12hr crew (props on making that drive). We postponed the start to allow our beloved Scott Morgan to…

Winnipeg 250 World Tour

Author: Drew Ganske

Well instead of one report, for clicking this link you get two reports because we were bored enough after going to Perkins following the first tournament, we proceeded to go to another card shop for a second tournament. Deck types and full standings appear when appropriate. Being my birthday I assumed I was going to get screwed over, but I tried to accumulate free wins with the birthday = concede factor. There are a few pictures but I was stealing whatever I could with or4nges camera so his article will have more and better pics. Here comes the decklist of…

The Old Days

Have you ever cast Demonic Consultation for Demonic Tutor because you didn’t want people to know what you were tutoring for? Ever played an eleven-player game for ante? Ever been 19 years old and traded back your winnings of Mox, Mox, Juzam for a case of beer from your 30 year-old opponent? 5-Color is not what it used to be, and recent talks about the banned and restricted lists have had people wanting to recapture that feeling. While players will never agree whole-heartedly on the cards allowed, isn’t it nice to have a format where our voices are heard? Recapturing…
